January 2010!!!

Hello!! And Happy February!!! Hope all is well!

I started a post shortly after Christmas but the more pictures I added the more bogged down I got. So I'm going to try to set this up a different way. Compose then add pictures as I go. Hopefully this will work!!!

These pictures below are of a 'SNOW' (if you can call it that!!) the beginning of January. I turned the car around just in case it got worse. Can you tell I'm an expert at that?? It was only a '20 point' turn!! LOL!!!

We had a lot of rain about 10 or so days ago and this was the 'flood.' Kevin and I were walking on the Greenway and this is what we saw. Quite an amazing sight.

On a quiet day...when I need some 'quiet alone time' I will go to our local Library and knit. It gives me some time to myself where I don't have to talk to anyone and no one talks to me. It's very nice. ;)

Kevin was able to work earlier this month. God is GOOD!! It took him a little longer to get this job done due to the rain but in God's timing it was finished!

My BFF, her sister and I needed a change up on our exercise program so we vollunteered at our local Humane Society and walked dogs. So much fun!! Kevin told me under no certain terms: "DO NOT BRING ANYONE HOME!!!' These were my two favorites. I would have brought them home in a minute...but no, I didn't.

We had a 'big snow' this past Friday afternoon, overnight + into Saturday. This was the scene at our grocery store on Friday afternoon. So crazy!! It was as if no one had ever seen snow before!! There were 15-20 people in each check-out lane. Things went really smoothly though, so that was good.

Here is the scene driving home from town on Friday afternoon. Very pretty.
This is NOT the best picture of Hannah but it's the best one that was taken in the snow this time. She is wearing the Cowl that I knitted her for Christmas. (the reason for the photo shoot!!) Not sure if she's going to like me posting this picture...but oh well!!!
I do not know why I have two of the same pictures...but that's how it downloaded and I can't figure out how to delete one. (sorry!)
This was the extent of our snow before it turned to ice. (it went from snowing to icing) We ended up with 6 inches or so...so this must have been before it stopped snowing. :)

I guess that's all I've got for now. I'll TRY to keep up on my blog better than I have lately.
Everyone have a great February!!
Hugs + Kisses.....

OUR TRIP TO DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE!! (and the Mark Schultz concert!!)

Hannah + I went to Asheville on Saturday (8/22/09) with our good friend, Alison. (she knows downtown Asheville where as we don't...she used to live in Asheville.) We'd been planning on doing this for months + decided to JUST DO IT!! this particular day...

Here's Hannah ready to head out. Still at our house right before we left.

In Alison's car heading to the 'BIG CITY.'

Walking in downtown Asheville.

These drawings were on a stockade fence between 2 buildings. They were amazing. The artist community here is terrific.

We ate a really cool Pan Asian restaurant, DOC CHEY'S Noodle House. We sat at the 'bar' (which was really a granite counter with some cool fiber optic lights in it. tried to take a picture of the lights...but it wouldn't show up in the photos.) The picture of Me is a silly one...trying to 'look Asian' I guess!!! LOL!! But in actuality just being silly. :) The 'girl' in the bottom picture was our server. She worked the bar. She was very nice + patient with me. ;) I'm not one for anything out of the ordinary when it comes to my food intake so I had a few questions about their menu. ;) The dining area wasn't very big + the wait would have been very long had we not eaten at the counter. Oh...And the food was good, too!!! :D
SCENERY OF DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE..........
Hannah at the 'bead store' spending the Gift Certificate that Alison gave her last year for her birthday! Better late than never!! She had a wonderful time going through all they had. Very cool store.
Absolutely loved this mural on the side of a building. Had to have Hannah take a picture of me!
That pretty much finishes our day in Asheville. I got so excited about being in a 'CITY' that you would think I was in New York City!! Asheville is a very eclectic city with people from all different walks of life. Very cool. :)
The Mark Schultz concert at the new Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center. Very nice facility (with extremely fancy bathrooms!!!!). The concert was FANTASTIC!! Very uplifting. Will definately see him in concert again if we get the chance.
Kevin + I after the concert outside the Perforning Arts Center.
Thanks all for letting me go on + on about our adventures this summer. Sorry it's taken me so long to post on my blog. 'Need' to update it at least every other week. (or at least 'try!!') I'll 'try' to be better at it from now on!!

Happenings of the past week or so...

Well....this past week or more has been quite exciting! Last Tuesday (?) Kevin painted our kitchen. The bottom color is the same as in the Living Room but the top part is a lighter yellow from the same paint chip than the LR. I absolutely LOVE how it has turned out!!

Here's a photo of Kevin painting behind the sink.... (yes, he painted right over the wallpaper!! Believe me...it's much easier this way than having a frustrated painter in your home!!)

The finished kitchen corner + back door. This photo doesn't show the 'right' colors of this room. (flash must have been on!)

This is the 'finished' Kitchen. ;) I say that because as you can see....my kitchen still isn't completely put back together. (believe it or not...it still isn't completed!!) I made these valances myself. I tore the fabric after dying them the same color as the Living Room and 'sewed' them with iron-on fuse tape. (It's great when you don't want to pull out your machine!!) They came out terrific. I'm very proud of myself!!

And here's the finished Living Room. The curtains have been dyed. My (our) home is like having the sun shining inside all the time. :) Very comforting + uplifting.

Here's a photo of me on my birthday. I know...not the most flattering!! We (my mom + I) 'tried' making sugar-free cupcakes. They weren't the tastiest...but I wanted my mom to be able to eat some cake, too.

More birthday pictures........

Maggie holding 'baby Luke.' She did so very well. She even got to feed him!! :)

And Hannah holding her nephew baby Luke. :)

Here are 3 generations. My mom, Lynette. My neice, Maggie. And myself. (I'm sorry my sister, Mag's mom Barbara, couldn't make it. she had to work.)

My mom + I when they first got here. :)

Me comforting Maggie after her 'injury.' It was quite amusing (once we knew she was going to be fine). We were playing 'restaurant' out on the deck + Kevin was popping in + out of the sliding-glass-doors being the 'chef' Well, after we ordered + got our food he thought we were done playing so he closed the door. Maggie had no idea he had done this. Well...she ended up walking right into the closed glass door. At first it upset her but once we saw that she wasn't hurt I had to laugh because it was comical. :D :D If I had video taped it we could have won $10,000 from 'America's Funniest Videos.' (LOL!!!)

Here's Kevin (my honey!!) cooking us supper on our last night together. We had barb-b-qued chicken with lots of fresh veggies from a local produce stand. Yummy!!!

One of the best + biggest highlights (at least for me) was watching Maggie playing with Honey, our very large Collie. Two years ago she was petrified of her. She told me her goal this time was to spend time with our dog. And she sure did!! Maggie's favorite prt was being able to walk Honey around our yard on the leash. Maggie seemed to like being more in control of her. It was just great watching her overcome her fears.

This is one of my favorite pictures of our visit. All the 'girls' we had here for my b-day.
Sitting: Aunt Martha + Mother
Back row: Me, Maggie + Hannah

It was so nice seeing family. We had a great time with all the fun we could shove into 2 days!! Went to the Factory. Had chinese food for my b-day lunch. Shopped uptown on Main Stree. And the best....was eating Maple Walnut ice cream at the local chocolate shop. :) Yum!!!
Thanks for 'hearing' me out!!!
Hope you've enjoyed the pictures!!
Hugs..........Nanette :D

My 3rd Post...I'm on a roll!!

Hello...once again!!!

It's amazing that I'm able to do this. :)

Hope all is well with all those who are reading this. I guess I should 'publish' my new blog. :)

It's raining...yet again. I know we were in quite a drought over the past couple of years + that we are now pretty much out of it + that God know's what we need + what we can handle...but lack of sunshine can get to me after awhile. I thrive, just like flowers, in the sunshine (+ with a bit of rain) to grow. :)

Had an enjoyable but busy day yesterday. I went to a yard sale + a thrift shop...by myself!!! Didn't find anything at the yard sale but found a box full of 'goodies' at the Habitat for Humanity thrift store. :) On Saturdays now, they are having everything 1/2 price in the store due to all the left-over yard sale stuff they get on Tuesdays. They have to move things out before they get 'new' stuff. So I made out quite well!! I have been 'collecting' clear glass dishware. From old 'snack set' plates w/ cups to bowls + serving dishes. I am planning our 30th wedding celebration + I have, in my head, how I want it to be. ;)
After running more errands I met my dear hubby at Kenny G's for lunch. They have the best grilled shrimp salads (at least I think so!!) YUM!!!
Next we went to 'meet' our new baby. (long story!!)
And to top the afternoon off I worked at the Senior Games banquet at the Middle School. I worked with some fun ladies + made $30. :) Was so hungry + tired I just came home (after a stop @ Sonic!!).
The evening was finished off by watching a 'light + comical' movie. Kevin picked from my description......we watched 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'. Quite 'light' in my way of thinking!!!!! Just goes to show you the difference between men + women!!! LOL!!!!

It's Sunday morning + we are being lazy today. I am still recovering from such a busy past couple of weeks. Although we will be going to my grandson's soccer game this afternoon! :)

Have a great day!!
Hugs to all. :)
Thanks for reading.

Day 1...With many more to come...(I hope!!)

Hello!!!

I have decided to try my hand at blogging again. With a new blog, at new title, + new format.

So, here goes!!!....

Today has been quite an unordinary day. We unexpectidly have Christopher, our grandson, here overnight. And possibly tomorrow night, too. His new baby brother is on his way into the world. :) (not our grandson though) (Long story!!!)

Anyway...Kevin will be taking him to school in the morning. We are having quite the good time with him. He is so funny!!! Kevin + I just put him to bed. He's a small boy in our huge, queen-size bed! We will sleep on the sleeper sofa in the Living room so we won't disturb him + he'll actually go to sleep!!

Hannah is working on her 2nd book. She's still trying very hard to get her 1st book published. Still praying that a litterary agent will like her work so much that they will want to send her manuscript to a publisher.

I joined Weight Watchers on January 20, 2009. (for all of those who haven't been reading my Facebook page!!) I have lost 29.2 pounds so far. I still have a 'few' more to lose but am thrilled with the progress thus far!! This is the most weight I have lost at one time. I am quite encouraged with this program.

Kevin + I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this coming Sept. We are hoping + praying that we will be able to celebrate with all the friends + family that will be able to come. Oh, did I tell you that we hope + pray the celebration will be at the beach in Cornucopia, WI?!?!?

My most happiest place on earth!! I could sit on that beach for hours on end. So relaxing. .... So to all of you reading this please remember this + plan time the end of August (so you + us...can enjoy the beach while it's still warm up there!!! LOL!!!

Well...I guess that's about it for my first post. I've been having computer troubles so I'm hoping this won't be my last!!

Thanks for letting me share.

Hugs to you all!!!

Love ya!!
